A passionate news presenter and journalist with extensive experience in live television, political coverage, interviews, and breaking news. Ghady Ghantous Bou Chahine
News Anchor — France 24 Arabic
With 20 years of experience in journalism and television, I have built my career covering the political, social and economic events that have shaped Lebanon, the Middle East and the wider world. My experience spans frontline field reporting, live coverage, political journalism, interviews and news anchoring — often from some of the most challenging and complex environments in the region.
During my years with Al Mayadeen and Future TV in Beirut, I covered major explosions, political crises and national events across Lebanon. I was also the first reporter to reach Al-Qusayr, the Syrian border city with Lebanon, during the battle between Hezbollah and Al-Nusra. While reporting live from the frontline, I came under RPG fire — an experience that profoundly marked my career and reinforced my ability to work calmly and professionally under extreme pressure.
My field reporting has taken me across the region and beyond. I covered the Iranian elections that led to Hassan Rouhani, the Tunisian elections that brought Beji Caid Essebsi to power, and the political transition in Iraq, including the elections that ended Nouri al-Maliki's tenure and led to Haider al-Abadi becoming Prime Minister. I also reported from Iraq during the years of devastating attacks and bombings carried out by ISIS.
Since 2015, I have been a News Anchor at France 24, where I also present my own daily news segment, Paris Direct. Beyond presenting, I write my own news bulletins, adapt and prepare them in Arabic, research and formulate my own interview questions, and take full editorial ownership of my coverage. This combination of field experience and editorial responsibility has allowed me to develop a strong and nuanced understanding of geopolitics, while maintaining the objectivity and editorial rigour that define my journalism.
Throughout my career, I have interviewed presidents, ministers, parliamentarians, political leaders and humanitarian figures, and have covered events that have profoundly shaped contemporary history — from the war in Syria and the conflict in Yemen, to the rise of the Houthis, the war in Ukraine, the October 7 attacks and the war in Gaza, the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, and the recent Iran–US conflict.
Beyond television and field reporting, I am committed to sharing my experience with the next generation. Each year, I participate in media training sessions, school programmes and workshops with students, where I share my experience in journalism, news presentation, interviewing and working in front of the camera. I particularly value these opportunities to help young people develop their communication skills, understand the responsibility of journalism and gain a practical insight into the media profession.
After two decades in the field and in the newsroom, I bring a rare combination of frontline reporting experience, live television expertise, editorial independence, teaching and mentoring, and deep regional knowledge. I am equally at home reporting from a conflict zone, moderating a political interview or leading a live news bulletin — always with the same commitment to accuracy, credibility and objectivity.
I am fluent in Arabic and French, with working proficiency in English.
